The Climate Regional Readiness Review Pilot Phase Workshop was held in Sydney, Australia from 18th - 20th July 2011. The Workshop brought together current and prospective data users from the Asia-Pacific region and data supply agencies from around the world including JAXA, GISTDA, USGS, ESA and NASA.
The Workshop allowed participants to gain an appreciation and awareness of the emerging satellite data streams for land cover, soil moisture and precipitation monitoring along with the current plans in developing countries for their exploitation and integration into national information services and applications.
The Workshop encouraged new lines of communication to be formed between the data supply agencies and the regional users. Participants also opened a dialogue on obstacles and opportunities of exploitation of the data streams in support of national systems and applications which are hoped to be carried forward within the Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) Framework.
