On 5 October 2011 a new treaty was signed between the Australian Government and the European Space Agency (ESA). The signing took place at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Cape Town, South Africa. The treaty concerns ESA's space tracking activities in Australia and will provide enhanced opportunities for Australian involvement with the ESA activities. The treaty is currently in the process of being approved through the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT).
The IAC is attended by the agency heads and senior executives of the world's space agencies along with academics, researchers, industry and commerce executives, students and young professionals. |
