The Space Policy Unit would like to congratulate Professor Brian Schmidt for being awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize for Physics for the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the universe through observations of distant supernovae.
Professor Schmidt shares the award jointly with two American astronomers. This is a great achievement for the Australian Space Science and Astronomy sector.
