The grant winners will provide round-trip air fares and other financial support for travel to Naples, Italy. Candidates will then attend the 63rd International Astronautical Congress, the Space Generation Congress, and the 2012 UN/IAF workshop. An experienced mentor will also support the candidates with their career ambitions upon returning to their home countries.
The IAF also invites students and young professionals with experience with social media to produce videos to be presented at the International Astronautical Congress. The Congress will hear concrete ideas on how social media and citizen science can be used presently and in the future to enhance space missions and technology.
Applications are to be submitted by video and uploaded to YouTube. For the first round of selection, applicants are required to create a 15 second video explaining why they should be chosen to address the Congress.
Successful applicants will then be required to create and post a 3 minute video for the next round of selection. The IAF will select the finalists based on their creativity, efficacy of messages and relevance to the plenary topics.
