Lots of people ask why we’re going back to the Moon, more than 50 years after we did it.

This month, we’re launching a series of animated videos explaining how the Artemis program will benefit life on Earth, particularly here in Australia.

The launch of the series, called “Space Has The Answers” coincides with National Science Week (10-18 August 2024), which will explore themes covered in the videos such as sustainability.

Part I: Agriculture

How can returning to the Moon help us grow food more sustainably on Earth?

In this animated video you’ll discover how important research in space is providing insights into:

  • sustainable farming on our planet
  • crop resilience for a range of conditions
  • habitation beyond Earth

Part II: Energy

How can returning to the Moon support Australia’s clean energy future?

In this animated video you’ll discover the vital role space technologies play in:

  • exploring the geology of the Moon
  • searching for critical minerals
  • improving clean energy practices

Part III: Health

How can returning to the Moon help us treat health conditions on Earth?

In this animated video you’ll learn how medical innovations developed in space can have life-changing impacts:

  • Strengthening the body after a spaceflight
  • Treating medical conditions
  • Improving recovery from injury and surgery
