Future space missions are set to benefit from the Internet of Things technology Myriota currently delivers to empower critical sectors on Earth.

Myriota is an Adelaide-based telecommunications company leading the world in a unique field. Its specialty is low-cost, low-power, secure satellite connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT): a technology that uses a network of sensors attached to physical objects to connect them to the Internet and gather data from them in real-time.

By harnessing the wide reach of satellite communications for IoT, Myriota can cover the vast majority of the globe not covered by cell towers – giving users advanced ability to monitor and manage critical infrastructure and resources in remote and regional locations. The network is improving productivity and efficiency for customers in agriculture, logistics, mining, and environmental conservation, and in government sectors such as water agencies, border security, rail and road management, and meteorology.

Now, Myriota has taken its expertise a step further, by creating a satellite payload to provide IoT services in space itself. The compact, low-cost payload is designed for deployment in low lunar orbit, from where it can deliver resilient, flexible, and scalable radio communications for missions in space. At the same time, investment from the National Reconstruction Fund is supporting Myriota to scale Australian-based manufacturing of its advanced hardware for high volume global distribution.
