Building national capability

The Australian Government is building capability in areas of national priority defined by the Critical Technologies Statement, Defence Industry Development Strategy, and the National Reconstruction Fund. 

Programs and opportunities are available to support the space sector's capabilities that align with these priority areas. 

Key Australian Government grant and support programs

As a technological enabler across the economy, the space sector can help diversify and transform Australian industry and may be eligible for support through several of these programs.

National Reconstruction Fund

This program provides finance for projects that diversify and transform Australia’s industry and economy in seven priority areas.

Defence Industry Development Grants

This program funds SMEs to build Australia’s sovereign capability, global competitiveness, technical superiority, and national security.

Space Concession Program

This program encourages the transfer of technology and expertise by providing duty-free tariff on eligible imported goods.

Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund

Supporting international collaboration and developing Aussie business in priority science and research areas.
