From the 1950s through to the 1970s, Australia was gripped with excitement as humanity made its first forays beyond Earth's atmosphere. From cutting edge scientific research to pop culture, 'Out of this world' is a national touring exhibition that explores Australia's contributions to the early years of the space age.
As part of the exhibition, the Australian Space Agency's Kerrie Dougherty OAM — one of Australia's most prominent space historians — will host a special guided tour.
In this event, she will share her unique perspective into Australia’s important role in space exploration.

'Out of this world' is a national touring exhibition developed and presented by the National Archives of Australia, in partnership with the State Library of South Australia.

This event will span across cutting-edge scientific research, visionary architecture, pop culture, and beyond.
About the presenter
Kerrie is one of the Australia's most prominent space historians.
She currently works at the Australian Space Agency as a Senior Heritage and Outreach Officer, where she is involved in numerous STEM and space community engagements.
Kerrie is the author of several books and articles on space history, including Australia in Space (2017). This important resource tells the story of Australia’s involvement with space activities, from the earliest rocketeers to the origins of the Australian Space Agency.

For space history buffs either visiting or residing in South Australia, the Australian Space Discovery Centre is a unique hub for all ages to learn about Australia’s role in space.
Located on the east end of North Terrace in Adelaide, the Discovery Centre is within walking distance or a short free tram ride away from the State Library, where the 'Out of this world' exhibition is being held.
